Hello land people,
I have come to bare good news to you all.
I have developed the perfect recipe to a perfect Sunday night.
Aside from the obvious "You need sleep to function" there is no point.
How inviting does the above picture look to you? Nice matching sheets and a big fluffy blanket and pillow all for me. (And my boyfriend but that doesn't count... It is all mine)
What I am going to let you in on is my Sunday night routine. It is something I do every single Sunday because I feel it is the perfect way to end a hectic and eventful or boring week! It revitalises my body and leaves me feeling refreshed!
There is nothing worse than those Sunday night feelings where you have to go back to work or to school the next day. Nothing worse. (trust me). (okay there might be some things that are worse but it definitely is not a good feeling).
Monday related blues should only ever be kept for the Monday. Do not let them dampen your Sundays.
So lets begin the routine at 7pm on the Sunday. Last Sunday I had actually made a delightful roast dinner and everything was eaten and washed away by around 5:30pm. I find that an early dinner on a Sunday allows you to get the most done in the evening.
So I am saying 7pm is the starting time for this routine as I am presuming that you are all early birds with Sunday dinner.
I go upstairs to my bathroom and pick my favourite bubble bath. At the moment I enjoy Imperial Lather bubble bath. I am usually quite a Radox fan but lately I am feeling the Imperial goods.
Anyways, the hot water is being poured. My bath taps run quite slowly unfortunately so it can take a while for the tub to fill up.
While I wait for the tub to fill I go through to my bedroom and begin stripping my bed. Sheets flying and pillow cases being tossed about. That gives you an idea of how much I hate stripping my bed but I find that if you start everything inside out then life is a whole lot easier!
I love to replace my bed sheets every Sunday so that after my beautiful bath I can slide my freshly shaved dolphin feeling legs into my sexy clean sheets. No better feeling than that let me tell you!
That would then be my bed made and my bath being run. Now to taking the next few steps to ensuring a maximum amount of chill is accomplished.
CANDLES.
Candles are essential for me to chill out. At the moment I have found one of my favourite autumn candles and while it is still very much summer I am very excited at this prospect! Smelling autumn is my favourite thing ever, everything is so fresh and crisp.
There we go, that is the candle lit and my bath drawn officially.
Oooh I'm about to dive in.
I know it is not a great idea to do this, but honestly I have been doing this for years and my laptop has not attacked me yet.
I like to take my laptop into the bathroom with me and place it on my bathroom cabinet to watch one of my favourite programmes or movies on Netflix.
Being Scottish and loving the domestic banter, I enjoy watching Still Game while washing my hair. Lord only knows why but it gives me a good chuckle!
The fluffier the towel the better. I cannot stress how amazing fluffy towels are after you get out of a nice hot bath and want nothing more than to cuddle into a warm blankety towel to dry off.
While in the bath tub I like to use a face mask. I bought this amazing face mask from a brand called "Along Came Betty". I bought it a few years back from Tesco, I think that this brand is exclusive to Tesco, but the beautiful thing is that this means it is not overly expensive and it actually is one of those products that I would pay through the nose for with its quality. It smells incredible and it leaves your skin to look glowy and dewy the next day. I swear it is a miracle of a product and I live by once every month. One 50ml tub has lasted me around 3 years and it only cost me around £5. I like to use the face mask whenever I am in the tub because I forget it is there and then when I get out I try to move my face and cannot. It is the coolest feeling ever when you have a dried mask on your face.
Once the 15 minutes have settled in for the face mask I rinse it off and get out of the bath. Here is where the fluffy towels matter most. You will want to dry your body perfectly and then moisturise.
I suffer quite badly from Eczema on my arms and legs and face. It is something that I hate very much and while the itching feels like heaven it kills me soon after. I used to always use Hydrocortisone cream which is a prescription steroid cream that can also thin the skin if used too much.
I do not like using steroid cream so I sought to find a shop bought moisturiser that could help my situation.
A good friend from work had told me about this book she read about how to combat her Eczema and she read that a moisturiser called Aveeno is the secret.
She then purchased a bottle of Aveeno Moisturiser or me and I lathered some on my arm Eczema.
I am honestly not kidding when I say that within 30 minutes my skin was looking so much better already! It was incredible. Suffering for so long with eczema that hurts and then seeing that within one application of store bought moisturiser was a miracle and I would highly recommend it to anyone who suffers from it.
Heading out of the bathroom into the bedroom is bliss. You might be a bit too hot from the water you immersed yourself in so lay on top of the duvet until you become cold then head under the duvet and drift off to slumber land.
I don't know about you but I really cannot wait for Sunday to come around again so I can wind down again as writing about it made me very very excited for the prospect of relaxation!
I hope that you enjoy your future Sundays with this piece of knowledge in your life!
